Two Rovema VPX 250 machines for powder packaging
DL Packaging is supplying two fully modernized Rovema VPX 250 vertical form-fill-seal machines to a leading industry player with production sites in Egypt and Morocco. Both machines are designed for packaging various powder products, including maizena, baking powder and sugar powder, in three pack sizes from 180 g up to 900 g.
Modernized and tailor-made
The two Rovema VPX 250 machines are being completely stripped down to the frame and rebuilt with new and modern components as part of our Platinum upgrade package. We have equipped the machines with a new Rovema P@ck-Control system and new wiring, and configured them to meet the specific requirements of the application, including the required bag formats, heat-sealable packaging materials and synchronization with the dosing system.
Application at a glance:
- Products: Maizena, baking powder and sugar powder
- Pack sizes: 180 g, 450 g and 900 g
- Bag formats: 180 g flat pillow bag; 450 g and 900 g side-gusseted bags
- Film: Heat-sealable packaging film, plastic and paper
- Production speed: Up to 65 cycles/min for 180 g flat bags; around 50 cycles/min for side-gusseted bags, and around 35 cycles/min for larger or more demanding formats.
New SDX dosing system
As part of the project, the machines will be equipped with an SDX dosing system featuring three interchangeable dosing screws, each specifically designed for the different powder products. Together with three format sets for the different bag sizes, these allow the customer to package different products and bag sizes on the same machine.
The dosing unit can be swung away from the machine, making it easier for the operator to clean the machine and change the tooling.
A familiar solution, with a lower investment
The customer already has extensive experience with Rovema machines and has previously invested in new machines for other production sites. For the African sites, the requirements were less focused on having the latest technology, making a retrofit solution a suitable choice. The focus was more on finding a reliable solution that offered the right balance between performance and investment. Rovema’s DL Pack solution offered that balance, making the retrofit a straightforward choice.
